GREAT COUNSEL FROM MR. ROGERS' MOM:
"Look for the Helpers. You Will Always Find People Who Are Helping"
That is what Mr. Rogers’ mom told him when he saw scary things on the news. Well, we definitely have some pretty scary things on the news right now. It is easy to get overwhelmed, but take heart!
Look around, you’ll find “helpers” – friends, colleagues, counselors, and therapists. Help can be casual, maybe regular coffee with friends or colleagues, or formal, with regular visits to counselors or therapists.
Sometimes it is the simple things. In “Therapy for Climate Change Anxiety” by author and therapist, Larissa Hul-Galasek, she encourages us to “recall the power and importance of joy and nature in order to process the grief and worry”.
If you need help dealing with anxiety or sadness, don’t forget to look for your helpers.
